## Frequently asked questions

### How long does a work permit application take?

By law, a work permit application whose information and documents are complete in the system is decided within 30 days (Law No. 6735, art. 7/8). Requests for missing documents, opinions from other authorities or professions that need prior approval can extend this. The overall timeline, including document preparation, fee payment and card printing, varies by case; we share an estimate for your file in the pre-assessment.

### Can I apply while I am outside Türkiye?

For a work permit, yes. The process starts with a work visa application at the Turkish embassy or consulate in the country of your citizenship or legal residence; your employer in Türkiye then completes the work permit application in the e-İzin system, using the reference number you receive, within the period the regulation sets after your visa application. Residence permit applications are not accepted from abroad; you apply through e-İkamet after entering Türkiye in line with the visa rules.

### What is the difference between a residence permit and a work permit?

A residence permit (ikamet izni) lets you stay in Türkiye legally but does not by itself allow you to work. To work you need a work permit (çalışma izni) or a work permit exemption. A valid work permit also counts as a residence permit while it is valid, and that right to stay ends when the work permit ends (Law No. 6458, art. 27; Law No. 6735, art. 12). Family members need their own family residence permit applications.

### What are the investment requirements for citizenship?

Citizenship by investment (the exceptional route) requires one of the following — acquiring real estate worth at least USD 400,000 with a no-sale annotation on the title deed for 3 years; investing at least USD 500,000 as fixed capital; placing the same amount in bank deposits, government debt instruments, real estate or venture capital investment fund units or private pension contributions and holding it for at least 3 years; or creating jobs for at least 50 people (Citizenship Regulation, art. 20). The investor applies after obtaining a certificate of conformity and a residence permit; the final decision rests with the President. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee a citizenship decision.

### Do you also help with my family members?

Yes. For your spouse and your minor or dependent children we identify the most suitable residence route alongside your own application and prepare their documents with your file. That route can be a family residence permit or a short-term residence permit on investment grounds. Because a foreign sponsor must as a rule have lived in Türkiye on a residence permit for at least 1 year, we plan the timing of the family residence application around your file. The official application is filed through e-İkamet by you, your statutory representative (e.g. a parent or guardian) or a lawyer holding your power of attorney.
